Kerr Street Street Exhibition February, until 3rd March. Title: Fact Checking Is So Last Century
Kerr Village in the Town of Oakville embodies what is great about Canada - a diverse community of people, served by a wide range of unique businesses, combined with outdoor spaces for rest and reflection. Through the promotion of art, local residents are offered monthly art exhibitions. For February, over 150 collages are presented. These document playing card art created over a period of one year, which were exchanged with other international artists. The exhibition features two large billboard collages, these then include a selection of various month’s artwork. Each has a central image, surrounded by 12 different card designs. Often these focus upon topical themes, such as inspirational persons for this Black History Month, The poignancy of the Ukraine War, the lessons of Hiroshima and the relationship and form of U.S. Politics and Canada. Being accessible 24 hours of the day, through snow, rain and sunshine, all viewers are able to consider how art can have various purses to entertain, amuse and challenge our perspectives of life, that is simultaneously both local and global.
